A major component in the success of a DSRIP project is the use of Health Information Technology (HIT) and Health Information Exchange (HIE) which enables the access and sharing of a patient’s health information across disparate unconnected systems. This allows medical practitioners to better understand the patient’s health and make informed decisions which ultimately results to improved health outcomes.
The NY DSRIP Network allows doctors, nurses, pharmacists, other health care providers and patients to appropriately access and securely share a patient’s vital medical information electronically—improving the speed, quality, safety and cost of patient care.
The Network synchronizes demographics, diagnoses, allergies, medication, treatments and procedures across all connected providers to create a longitudinal patient record and make it available within providers’ current workflow, thus providing a much more complete picture of the patient which can enhance clinical decision-making and lead to better patient outcomes.
The NY DSRIP Network also offers the option of alerting the provider on allergy interactions, medication interactions, inappropriate dosing, duplicate therapies and drug to drug interactions for a patient across all connected PPS members. In addition to helping reduce Adverse Drug Events (ADEs), the NY DSRIP Network alerting service can also help reduce duplicative therapies and tests thus lowering the overall costs of providing healthcare. The alerting service is fully configurable to meet the requirements and demands of each participating member of the NY DSRIP Network.
The NY DSRIP Network is built on the latest IT and healthcare standards-compliant technology to enable full interoperability between participating organizations for secure, fast and accurate exchange of patient data.

The NY State’s DSRIP (Delivery System Reform Incentive Payment) Program intends to reduce avoidable hospital use through delivery system reform. The NY State will reinvest $8 billion to address community-level collaborations and focus on system reform, specifically to achieve 25% reduction in avoidable hospital use over the next five years.
Individual providers (hospitals, clinics etc.) collaborate to form part of a Performing Provider System (PPS) where the lead provider (“PPS lead”) handles the DSRIP application process and the subsequent management of the program across all its members.
The “NY DSRIP Network” provides an infrastructure which allows Performing Provider Systems to communicate and exchange information in a secure and reliable way. The Network synchronizes demographics, diagnoses, allergies, medication, treatments and procedures across all connected providers.

Throughout the process of the project, the team was responsive, accessible and reliable. It was a pleasure to work with such a creative group. We look forward to continuing our relationship with more projects in the future.
